There’s been a lot of buzz lately over the monk fruit drink being linked to health issues.
While it is a traditional Japanese drink, there’s a lot to keep in mind if you’re trying to stay in the good graces of your health, according to Dr. David Grann, a professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and a physician in private practice.
“If you’re taking this for whatever reason, like to be able to have the right amount of energy and the right amounts of electrolytes and the correct amounts of minerals and all of that, then you can have some sort of health benefit,” Grann said.
“I think the issue is you’re talking about the nutritional value of the drink.
You’re not talking about its effect on your body or on your heart or your immune system.”
Dr. Grann’s warning is especially important because he said the monk is not an approved product for healthy consumption.
“The most important thing is that this is not a product that’s been approved by the FDA or approved by any regulatory agency, and so they can’t even tell us what it is, because it’s unregulated and they can only say that it’s a watermelon juice or a pineapple juice or something like that,” Gran said.
“It’s not the kind of drink that would actually be safe to drink.”
Grann said it’s important to remember that monks are a traditional drink, not a juice.
“They’re actually meant to be consumed in this way because they have medicinal properties and they’re supposed to have some health benefits,” Grancas said.
So, while there’s been some buzz about this drink, you should probably steer clear of it.
“I think it’s kind of a stretch,” Granna said.

“They are a type of fruit called orange and they are actually a little bit like orange blossom,” he said.
The orange blossoms are actually an invasive species that have been spreading in the Caribbean.
“So the trees are already in the ground, and they have a seedling that’s growing inside of it,” Grans said.
“The seeds have to be cut off, and the seeds have a little seedling inside of them and so the tree is basically being planted inside of a tree.”
So what is the monk juice?
Dr. David Granite, a physician and author of the book “Fruits for Health,” said he and his team found a “monk juice” with no actual ingredients and that it was just a watermelons juice.
“Basically what it was was a watery, fruit-flavored fruit juice,” Granite said.
While the monks are not technically fruit, they’re also not really fruits, he said, because they’re only a vegetable.
But they’re still fruits, and you should eat them.
Granites is the author of a book called “The Monk’s Guide to Eating Healthful Fruit,” and he said he’s noticed that people are eating more of these fruits, especially the fruit juice.
While this type of drinking has been linked to some health problems, it’s not likely to cause you to become ill, he added.
Gronas’ advice to avoid the drink is to drink it with watermelon, not pineapple.
“[It’s] a water-based fruit juice, so you’re drinking the watermelon and you’re adding watermelon to that watermelon,” Grano said.
