Chinese fruit baskets are the quintessential Asian dessert, a favorite among the Japanese and Korean, as well as a popular snack for Chinese tourists.
The Japanese have their own fruit baskets, while the Korean have a Japanese-style fruit basket, while in China, you’ll find Chinese fruit dishes with meat and vegetable fillings.
We’ve compiled our favorite Chinese dessert recipes here, with instructions on how to make each of them.
Chinese fruit basket: The fruit basket is made of bamboo and covered with leaves, which is used to cover the basket with fruit.
You can use the bamboo to create a decorative cover or simply wrap the basket in bamboo paper, as seen in the photos.
(This method makes a good bamboo basket if you can find bamboo, though you’ll need a lot of it.)
The basket is then covered with a cloth or plastic sheet and placed in a glass bowl filled with water.
You’ll have to do some work to remove the excess water to allow the fruit to drain, but it’s worth it.
To remove the water, you can soak the fruit in a bowl of hot water, then throw it in a clean bowl of boiling water for about 20 minutes.
Once it’s completely soaked, you don’t need to worry about it, since the water will have absorbed the fruit.
(We tried this method, and the water was delicious!)
You can also cut a small hole in the top of the basket to keep any remaining water from seeping through.
You don’t want to add any extra water to the basket, as the water is more than just water.
Here’s how to cut a hole in a bamboo fruit basket to make a bamboo cover: 1.
Cut the bamboo and cut the bamboo sheet into three pieces.
2.
Lay the bamboo piece on a cutting board, then carefully peel the bamboo with a sharp knife.
You might need to cut the wood in two or three pieces depending on the size of your bamboo.
3.
Cut a small, round hole in each piece, then lay the bamboo paper on top.
4.
Remove the bamboo cover, leaving the bamboo in place.
5.
Cut an additional hole in one of the holes to make an additional cover.
The bamboo cover should look like this: 6.
Place the bamboo basket in the refrigerator to set up for two to four days.
7.
If you have a large bamboo pot, you might have to chop the bamboo into a few smaller pieces, then stack the bamboo pieces in a small bowl and refrigerate them.
When ready to use, place the bamboo strips into the bamboo pot and cook for a few minutes until they soften and become soft.
8.
The finished bamboo basket: While you may want to keep some leftover fruit in the basket for future use, you should only keep a few fruit slices for yourself.
To make a bowl filled to the brim with fruit, add the remaining bamboo strips to the bowl.
(If you use the plastic sheet to cover a basket, you may have to cut up a piece of bamboo for the bowl, as pictured here.)
Fill the bowl with water and let it soak for about 10 minutes.
(Be careful not to submerge the bamboo because the water could eat away at the bamboo.)
You can then add the fruit slices and let them soak for another 10 minutes to soften and then add them to the water.
When the water has completely absorbed the food, you’re ready to add the rest of the fruit, which you’ll add in the bowl at the end of cooking.
To finish off the dish, sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve.
The best way to use a bamboo basket is to decorate it with some fruit, like fruit trees or a Chinese-style bun.
The fruit and vegetable filling will add a bit of flavor to the food and will also be good for your skin.
Chinese food: The Chinese cuisine is a mix of traditional and modern dishes.
Traditional Chinese dishes like sichuan chicken are made with pork, while a new generation of dishes, such as beef chicken, are made from beef.
Here are some traditional Chinese dishes that you can try.
(The Chinese-inspired dishes shown here are from New York magazine, but they work equally well in any Chinese dish.)
Vegetable and meat dishes: Pork is traditionally made with a variety of vegetables, such the cabbage, broccoli, and green beans.
Pork belly, beef belly, and pork belly are also popular in the region.
The beef belly can be prepared by roasting or steaming it, while other traditional meats include beef, pork, and chicken.
Here is how to prepare a traditional Chinese meat dish: 1 .
Place a large piece of pork belly on a plate and spread it with a thin layer of chopped vegetables.
2 .
Add a layer of sliced pork belly to the meat sauce, then add a layer more vegetables.
3 .
Serve it with your choice of rice, or serve it
